Did You Know Who Is God? God Loves Kids Wednesday's Word Community Prayer Requests Questions

I am a daughter, a friend, sister, a niece, an aunt, a favorite granddaughter, a co-worker, a homeowner, a hard-worker, an elder at my local church, video producer/editor…

If I asked you who you are, what would be your answer?  A mom, grandmother, father, uncle? If I took a survey in your neighborhood or at your job, what do you think others would say? Kinda grumpy at times, nice but don't get on his/her bad side, he/she doesn't speak to me, so I don't know. Some may even talk about old stories of you. Here is an even harder question that we are sometimes afraid to ask, “what does God think about me?” or “How does God see me?”

You need to know that God loves you more than anything in this world. The bible says, He loves you and me so much He gave up his only Son to die for us (John 3:16).

He is looking for you to accept Him and once you do you will see yourself differently.  It is important to know who you are so that you can live a successful Christian life. The more you see yourself as God does, the more your behavior will reflect your God given identity. Learn to see yourself as God sees you. Accept Christ as your Savior and turn away from your old ways. The identity that you and others have placed on you will change but it will not matter. God's opinion is the one that counts.

Understanding who you are in Christ will give you a strong foundation to build your life on. Knowing who you are in Jesus is the key to a successful Christian life. God did not destine you to be a failure. Ray Charles sang a song: Born to Lose. But Ray is wrong because not one of God's children was born to lose. That message is all wrong. You were born to win! (Romans 8:37).

Today, if you accept Christ as your Lord and Savior, God will see us as we were designed to be seen... In Christ!  If you have already accepted Christ, let's re-commit ourselves to knowing our true identity.  The old things/identities/lifestyle/thoughts, actions are passed away.  But in Christ, you are a new creation.  It's time to stop living out who people say you are and take hold of the truth of God's word.

I have a t-shirt that best describes who I am today – and forever!

It says in Christ:

I am faithful. (Ephesians 1:1)
I am God's child. (John 1:12)
I have been justified. (Romans 5:1)
I am Christ's friend. (John 15:15)
I belong to God. (1 Corinthians 6:20)
I am a member of Christ's body. (1 Corinthians 12:27)
I am assured all things work together for good. (Romans 8:28)
I have been established, anointed and sealed by God. (2 Corinthians 1:21-22)
I am confident that God will perfect the work He has begun in me. (Philippians 1:6)
I am a citizen of heaven. (Philippians 3:20)
I am hidden with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:3)
I have not been given a spirit of fear, but of power, love and self-discipline. (2 Timothy 1:7)
I am born of God and the evil one cannot touch me. (1 John 5:18)
I am a new creation. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
I am delivered. (Colossians 1:13)
I am redeemed from the curse of the law. (Galatians 3:13)
I am qualified to share in His inheritance. (Colossians 1:12)
I am victorious. (1 Corinthians 15:57)

Heavenly Father, Here I am giving you my old identities and taking up Christ. When you see me Lord I want You to see Christ and Christ alone. Help me to live the life that you have designed for me. When you return to claim your children I want to be saved too!

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
